The IC Fellowship

4 min read Updated:

A future learning space for life after the old script stops working.

The IC fellowship will be the learning and applied-thinking arm of The Interlude Café.

It is being designed for people broadly over 45 who want to understand what's actually changing, and think more clearly about what that means for life ahead.

The Fellowship is built around structured learning, sharper questions, and practical frameworks that help people make sense of where they actually are, not where the old script assumed they would be by now.

Over time, the Fellowship may include guided learning, expert sessions, small-group discussions, assessment tools, member briefings, applied exercises, live events, and selective gatherings.

But the purpose is larger than any single course or cohort.

The Fellowship exists to help people think more clearly across the areas where the old script most often breaks down: Work, Money, Health, Lifestyle, People, Culture, and Learning.

We don't believe in just handing people a new script. Our philosophy is to help you understand why the old one no longer fits, and what that means for the decisions ahead.

Why It Exists

Most programmes in this space still begin with familiar labels.

Retirement. Midlife. Longevity. Reinvention. Career change. Purpose.

Each captures part of the story, but none is large enough to explain the whole picture on its own.

The IC Fellowship starts with a broader problem: many people are now living less linear lives within institutions, financial models, career structures, health assumptions, and social expectations built for an older sequence.

That gap is where the difficulty lies. The old model no longer explains enough of what is actually happening.

The Fellowship exists to help make that picture clearer.

What The Fellowship Will Explore

The Fellowship will examine the connected questions that often appear when the old script stops working.

Work
What does contribution look like when the career ladder no longer provides a clear direction or ending?

Money
How do you think about financial structure, risk, optionality, and time when life no longer has a neat finish line?

Health
How does capacity shape freedom, confidence, identity, and the range of choices available to you?

Lifestyle
What kind of daily structure, place, rhythm, and environment now support the life you are trying to build?

People
How do family, friendship, partnership, care, and community change across longer, less predictable lives?

Culture
Which inherited stories are still shaping your choices, and which ones no longer deserve your obedience?

Learning
What do you need to understand, practise, or unlearn when formal education is long behind you and the world keeps changing anyway?

How It Will Work

The IC Fellowship is still in development. It is being designed around structured learning, sharper questions, and practical frameworks rather than inspiration or reinvention.

When it launches, it will include:

Guided reading and essays. Small-group conversations. Expert-led sessions. Diagnostic exercises. Learning resources. Practical frameworks. Case studies. Decision tools. Member briefings. Selective live events.

The format and sequencing will be confirmed closer to launch.

Who It's For

The IC Fellowship is for people who have done enough living, working, adapting, caring, building, losing, recovering, and starting again to know that the usual labels are not enough.

It may be for you if:

You are questioning what work means now.
You are rethinking money, risk, or long-term security.
You are making decisions about place, health, family, or contribution.
You feel caught between old expectations and current reality.
You want to think with others without being sold a reinvention story.
You are interested in sharper language, better questions, and more useful frameworks

No crisis required. No dramatic story needed here. No obligation to know what comes next.

Just come along with the recognition that the old explanations are no longer enough.

Who It's Not For

The IC Fellowship is probably not for you if you are looking for:

A motivational reset.
A simple life plan.
Generic networking.
A transformation retreat.
A “follow your dreams” programme.
A personal brand accelerator.
A promise that everything will become clear in six weeks.

The work will be practical and grounded.

But we will not pretend that complicated lives can be solved by simple formulas.

For Contributors, Experts, and Partners

The Fellowship may also become a space for selected contributors, researchers, practitioners, employers, financial thinkers, health specialists, educators, and organisations working in this area.

The aim is not to create a guru-led programme.

The aim is to bring together people who can help make the pattern clearer from different angles.

If your work touches longer, less linear lives across work, money, health, learning, place, relationships, culture, or organisational change, we would like to hear from you.

Join the Waitlist

The IC Fellowship is not open yet.

For now, you can join the waitlist to receive updates as it develops, including early sessions, pilot groups, future learning resources, and founding opportunities.

Founding Fellows
The first version of the IC Fellowship may open to a small group of Founding Fellows.

Founding Fellows will help shape the early learning model, test the first resources, participate in pilot conversations, and provide feedback on what is most useful.

This will not be a mass launch, but a careful first group for people who recognise the problem The Interlude Café is trying to name and want to help build a better way to think about it.

If you are interested in becoming a Founding Fellow, join the waitlist and tell us briefly why this work matters to you.
