Future Initiatives

5 min read Updated:

The Interlude Café is beginning as a publication.

Over time, it may grow into a wider set of resources, tools, learning spaces, research products, and partnerships around life after the old script stops working.

Everything grows from the same question: what happens when longer, less linear lives meet institutions, assumptions, products, and language built for an older model?

The ideas below are in development. Some may launch soon. Some may change. Some may be folded into others as The Interlude Café grows.

The principle will stay the same: clearer questions, sharper language, useful insight, and better ways to think about the life ahead.

At a Glance:

  • The Interlude Assessment
  • The IC Fellowship
  • The Global Living Index
  • Community & Conversation
  • The IC Collective
  • Enterprise & Partner Intelligence
  • Partner Initiatives

The Interlude Assessment

The Interlude Assessment is a structured diagnostic for people who can sense that something in their current setup is under pressure — but are not yet sure where.

It is neither a personality test nor a scorecard. Its purpose is more practical: to show where pressure is building across the five areas that most often shift first when the old script stops working.

Work. Money. People. Place. Identity.

The Assessment produces a personalised report showing how these five areas interact, which is most likely to break first, and what to do about it. Every report is personally reviewed before it is sent.

It takes around ten minutes to complete. The report is delivered within one working day.

Over time, the Assessment will connect to the IC Fellowship, learning resources, and future community and partner initiatives, forming the diagnostic foundation of everything The Interlude Café builds.

Future Assessments & Tools
The Interlude Assessment is likely to be the first of several.

Over time, The Interlude Café may develop further assessments and practical tools to help readers think more clearly about work, money, health, place, relationships, learning, and the choices ahead.

Our objective is the same across all tools: to help people see patterns more clearly, understand which questions matter most, and think more carefully about what to do next.

The IC Fellowship

The IC Fellowship will be the learning and applied-thinking arm of The Interlude Café, designed for people broadly 45 and beyond who want to understand what is actually changing, and think more clearly about what that means for the life ahead.

The Fellowship is built around structured learning, sharper questions, and practical frameworks that help people make sense of where they actually are, rather than where the old script assumed they would be by now.

Over time, it may include guided learning, expert sessions, small-group discussions, assessment tools, member briefings, applied exercises, live events, and selective gatherings.

The Fellowship exists to help people understand why the old script no longer fits, and think more clearly about what comes next.

The IC Global Living Index

The Interlude Global Living Index will examine place through a different lens.

Traditional retirement destination lists begin with the assumption that life is winding down. The Index starts from a different reality: many people at this stage are still working, learning, caring, earning, moving, and making complex decisions about where life now works best.

The Index will look at place as part of the structure of a life: work, money, health, connection, culture, mobility, affordability, and long-term optionality.

Our aim is to help people think more clearly before making decisions about where and how they live. Not to sell the fantasy of escape.

Community & Conversation

The Interlude Café is building a different kind of conversation about life after the old script stops working.

A place for readers, contributors, practitioners, and organisations who have noticed that something has changed across Work, Money, Health, Lifestyle, People, Culture, and Learning, and want a clearer way to think about it.

Over time, this may include reader discussions, contributor circles, focused events, research briefings, learning groups, and member spaces.

The IC Collective

The IC Collective may become a curated network of contributors, researchers, practitioners, advisors, and subject specialists who help The Interlude Café examine what is happening from different angles.

The Collective's role is to deepen the quality of the work: stronger essays, sharper analysis, better interviews, specialist explainers, research briefings, learning resources, and practical tools across Work, Money, Health, Lifestyle, People, Culture, and Learning.

It may include people working in financial services, health, employment, learning, technology, policy, relocation, research, media, and longevity strategy.

The aim is to bring serious expertise into contact with lived experience, so The Interlude Café can make the wider pattern clearer.

If you work in one of these areas and think there is something worth exploring here, we would like to hear from you.

Enterprise & Partner Intelligence

The Interlude Café may develop a research and intelligence layer for organisations working in and around the post-linear life economy.

That could include financial services, employers, health companies, learning providers, technology firms, relocation platforms, media organisations, researchers, and policymakers.

Our aim is to help organisations understand the mismatch between how people are actually living now and the older assumptions still built into many products, services, policies, workplaces, and institutions.

This could include briefings, research reports, audience insight, editorial partnerships, market analysis, and data connected to Work, Money, Health, Lifestyle, People, Culture, Learning, and place.

The public site will remain reader-first. Over time, this layer will translate IC's reader insight into useful intelligence for organisations without turning the platform into a corporate product.

One of the major emerging markets of the next decade is the post-linear life economy, and it's our intention to help organisations understand it.

Partner Initiatives

Over time, The Interlude Café may work with selected partners across financial services, health, learning, employment, technology, relocation, media, policy, and longevity strategy.

The basis for any partnership is the same: a genuine interest in understanding the gap between how people are actually living now and the older assumptions still built into many products, services, and institutions.

That gap is already shaping decisions about work, money, health, place, learning, and long-term planning — and most organisations are working with incomplete intelligence about it.

IC can offer editorial reach, reader insight, research intelligence, and the ability to translate what is happening in people's lives into something organisations can actually use.

Generic sponsorship is not what we are looking for. If you are building something that takes this seriously, we would like to hear from you.

hello@interludecafe.com

The Interlude Café is building toward something larger: a publication, an intelligence layer, a learning space, and a diagnostic platform for one of the defining questions of our time.

What happens when longer, less linear lives meet assumptions, institutions, and systems that were never designed for them? And what becomes possible once people can see that clearly enough to act on it?
